Welcome!
The HBCU Film Invitational is the nation's premier showcase dedicated exclusively to the cinematic works of students from the 100+ HBCUs nationwide.
After four years of development, while battling an unforeseen pandemic, 2022 marked our first opportunity to showcase the talent you can find on an HBCU campus.
This moment would not have been possible without the support of our Network Partner HBCU GO TV, our co-hosts Kayla Pittman and Asia Martin, special guest Kayla Gorden, and a selfless group of Metro-Detroit small businesses that include Benito’s Pizza, The Garden Theater, The Jagged Fork, Yum Village and more!
Tune in with our host, performer and FAMU alumna Mel Mitchell, and special guests as we reveal the Jury Award Recipient during the 2024 Invitational Awards Presentation. Brought to you by The Skillman Foundation and Ally.
In a present climate where foundations for accessibility and opportunity for minority communities are under siege, it is imperative that we create an ecosystem that will grant younger creatives access to the tools that can lead to growth and sustainable success. Our mission is simple: Empowering all young, Black voices through the amplification of Black art and to build bridges for the next. generation of Black creatives.
