Welcome!
The HBCU Film Invitational is the nation's premier showcase dedicated exclusively to the cinematic works of students from the 100+ HBCUs nationwide.
After four years of development, while battling an unforeseen pandemic, 2022 marked our first opportunity to showcase the talent you can find on an HBCU campus.
This moment would not have been possible without the support of our Network Partner HBCU GO TV, our co-hosts Kayla Pittman and Asia Martin, special guest Kayla Gorden, and a selfless group of Metro-Detroit small businesses that include Benito’s Pizza, The Garden Theater, The Jagged Fork, Yum Village and more!
Tune in with our host, performer and FAMU alumna Mel Mitchell, and special guests as we reveal the Jury Award Recipient during the 2024 Invitational Awards Presentation. Brought to you by The Skillman Foundation and Ally.
"Our mission is rooted in equity, creativity, and impact: to empower the next generation of young creatives by amplifying their voices through film, storytelling, and art."
As national conversations shift toward lasting inclusion, cultural investment, and economic mobility, Autumn Sun is proud to create spaces where diverse brilliance is not only celebrated—but equipped to lead. Through initiatives like the HBCU Film Invitational, we are building sustainable pathways for emerging talent.
